Meet The Mayeuxs

Meet The Mayeuxs

The All Seasons story grew from a small seed and has since blossomed into Acadiana’s 5-acre garden center and complete outdoor living, locally-owned business it is today. Gardening gurus from all over Acadiana can thank Peter Mayeux for deciding to switch his career path from medical to horticulture.

Peter attributes his success as a gift from his parents, Deacon Paul and Gertie Mayeux. Being the youngest of 12 , and growing up in Ville Platte Louisiana, his mother and father gave him the love and confidence that he needed to succeed. Consistently nudging him that with God all things are possible and no trial was too great to overcome. In 1988, Peter's father brought him to USL, and with bike in tow, told Peter to, "Go and get 'em son!" Thus began his new journey, majoring in Emergency Health Services while working as a paramedic.
While attending school, he was offered the opportunity to work at a small, existing garden center on Johnston Street. He also had a small landscape/grass cutting business and would landscape yards out of an old, rusted Toyota truck. He obtained a degree in 1991, but immediately went back for Horticultural Business, feeling a deeper connection to that field. In 1992, Peter and his brother, Gil Mayeux received the opportunity to purchase that small garden center on Johnston Street. At that time, All Seasons Nursery & Landscaping officially took root.

Peter then was introduced by a friend, Fr. Conley Bertrand to Mary Bercier, from Rayne. After dating 6 weeks, Peter proposed, and they were married 10 months later. Children soon followed, and have added a garden of love to their lives. William, Samuel, Nathan, and Mary Grace. All children in the Mayeux bunch love to be outside enjoying gardening and the outside activities that mom and dad have brought to them.

In 2000 Peter and his brother had the opportunity to purchase the 5-acre land that All Seasons now sits on, along with an auto mechanic shop that is now the warehouse/landscaping office. At this time All Seasons really started to bloom vigorously-just like the wisteria that would appear on the logo! Better, more efficient equipment became a reality, and the brothers became more proficient in selling with the customer’s needs and desires as top priority.

In 2006, Peter and Mary became the sole owners of All Seasons Nursery & Landscaping, now a Home and Garden Showplace affiliated with True Value. A major makeover would soon follow. There was remodeling and expansion blooming like wildflowers. Now, the Garden Center expanded from a 1 acre nursery to a 5 acre Garden Center, with multiple departments and managers.

To date, All Seasons averages 40-55 local garden-minded employees, all overflowing with knowledge, creativity and the love of plants. With the hard work of the Mayeuxs and year-round employees, All Seasons has been voted #1 in The Times annual “Best of Acadiana” campaign since 2006. Peter’s landscaping work was published twice in Better Homes & Gardens, and All Seasons Nursery & Landscaping won the 2008 award for “Home & Garden Showplace Store of the Year for the Southern Region” presented by the national Home & Garden Showplace division.

Peter is a Licensed Horticulturist and Licensed Contractor in Landscaping, Irrigation, Home Improvement; and Swimming Pool Construction. He can be found at the nursery just about 7 days a week, helping customers, encouraging employees and working tirelessly on all landscape & nursery projects-both for clients and his business. The Garden Center stocks year-round plants of all sorts; annuals; perennials; trees; vegetables; herbs; gardening supplies & gifts; plant health care; hardscape materials such as statues, fountains, etc, and much more! There is something exciting awaiting around every bright-colored and blooming corner! The Landscaping division is a full-service, year-round entity that offers free consultations to transform any outside space into the homeowner’s paradise-reflecting retreat. From planting out of that old rusted Toyota truck to a fleet of 10 landscaping-geared trucks and a garden center stocked with inspirational beauty, the Mayeuxs have transformed the landscape of Lafayette with their All Seasons Nursery & Landscaping, INC.
